A free shredding event raised over $2,000 for Tega Cay Camp cadets. The shredding event was held at the Tega Cay Police Department and Carolina Shred provided the shredding trucks. American Burger Co. served burgers. Over 100 local residents brought personal documents to be shredded and over 350 local residents attended the event.
The Camp Cadets program is for children in fifth, sixth and seventh grades. The next program will be from June 18 through June 22, 2018. This year is the third year that the police department has offered this educational setting. The camp teaches positive relationships between the public safety officers and children. Children participate in several activities and watch several demonstrations, including a police K-9 demonstration, fire education, water activities, a swat demonstration, an amusement park and more.
The camp is free, thanks to donations, but the children must have a letter of recommendation from a sponsor.
The Tega Cay Police Department has 26 sworn officer plus two civilian employees. It protects and serves over 10,000 people. The department also provides National Night Out, community policing and school resources officers. The department uses the newest technology while still retaining the “neighborhood cop” identity.
“The Tega Cay Police Department prides itself on being a Community Oriented Police Department. Being able to serve Tega Cay citizens lunch while raising funds for a Free Public Safety Camp for kids embodies the spirit of relationships we seek. We’re especially thankful to our partners in this event American Burger Company and Carolina Shred for helping us raise over $,2000." Steve Parker | Tega Cay Police Chief
American Burger Co. provided burgers for the fundraiser event on March 10. Their Rivergate location also has some of the freshest beer on tap and like to go above and beyond for their customers, including participating in community fundraisers and events.
"I heard about the fundraiser that the Chief was throwing and saw we had a truck available that day, after seeing all the positive results and support from the community, I thought it was a no brainer to help raise money for the police department and it's annual Camp Cadet Program. Cheryl and I are glad to have helped!" Ryan Richard | Owner/Operator Carolina Shred
Carolina Shred also participates in community events to help raise money for fundraisers. When possible, the company will send a truck out to offer free document shredding so that your identity stays secure. Even documents with only your address should be shredded. If a criminal obtained any other identifying information, he or she could add that to the information they have and easily steal your identity. You may also follow us on Facebook for event information.
At the least, with an address, criminals could wait until you are not home and break into your house. To learn more about community fundraising events, learn when a truck will be in your area, or to have us come out to your house to shred the many documents you no longer need to keep, contact us to discuss your shredding needs.
